My thanks and a bittersweet goodbye

Dear friends,

IPS Education Foundation1It’s a bittersweet week for me at the IPS Education Foundation.  My last day in the office as Executive Director is Friday, July 11.  I leave to take on the role of Director of Marketing and Business Development at Well Done Marketing in Fountain Square.  While I am excited about the next phase of my career, I leave with incredible pride in what we have done together at the IPSEF and immense gratitude for all of your support.

I made the leap into this fairly “quiet” organization in November of 2011.  Since then, I have learned so much about education and have gained tremendous respect for the professionals who ensure that kids have a great experience in schools.  I have been motivated and inspired by countless stories of IPS students and teachers.  And I have been moved by donors, many with no built-in connection to IPS, who are moved to support these 30,000 students, thus helping to ensure a brighter future for Indianapolis.

Ferebee Broadfoot GrotjanOur little Foundation has grown and changed so much.  We have added needed staff to increase our fundraising capacity and to allow us to administer even more programs. We’ve developed a new strategic plan, focused on enhancing the ways in which we help IPS students. Our income has increased, over 30% from 2012 to 2013.  We had a record-breaking year giving out matching grants, totaling $100,000 for 2013-2014—a figure that is virtually unheard of anywhere else.  Our relationship with the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon has gotten stronger, with $105,000 going into IPS programs this coming school year.  We’re getting ready to induct another class of amazing IPS graduates in the Hall of Fame, an event that provides support for our work.

All of this was possible because of your support.

It has been my privilege to serve the students of IPS.  It has been a joy to work with you all in doing that.

Please continue to donate, volunteer and get involved.  There are amazing things happening in IPS every day.  And it can be even more amazing with your help.

My hope is that the IPSEF will to continue to grow, and we are working to ensure the most seamless transition possible.  IPSEF board member Elana Thompson will be serving as Interim Executive Director in the office two days a week, and she can be reached at

Thank you all for your generosity these last nearly 3 years.  I hope we find reasons for our paths to continue to cross.

Yours in service,

Linda Broadfoot

We are also beginning our search for our next Executive Director.  Should it be you?  Read more here.
