Founded in May 1984, the Indianapolis Public Schools Education Foundation (IPSEF) supports the Indianapolis Public School District.
Historically, IPSEF primarily raised funds in support of an annual teacher grant program and pursued designated gifts for smaller scale, local building-based projects. IPSEF has also served as a fiscal agent for grants to the school district. In April of this year, the Foundation made an intentional shift with the hiring of its new Executive Director, Stephannie Bailey. The IPSEF Board and Executive Director have been actively charting a new course of developing and executing a coordinated philanthropy strategy in true partnership with district administration. This effort is supported by the IPS District executive leadership team and the IPSEF Board of Directors.
As an ally to the District, IPSEF seeks to leverage community resources and funding to support special initiatives. Teachers need additional support for unique and innovative programs to better prepare students for their future. Unanticipated opportunities arise during the school year, and teachers, schools and community partners need additional funding to provide the innovative and critical programming for IPS students.
